Grand Opera House
The 1904 Grand Opera House was for many years the largest stage in the South. Located in downtown Macon, it is still one of Georgia’s largest stages and one of only four locations outside of Atlanta that can accommodate Broadway-sized performances. With over 1,000 seats, the Grand greats over 44,000 patrons per year with a full array of nationally-touring artists as well as local productions. The venue is owned by the Macon – Bibb County government and managed by Mercer University.
“Joining the Audience Building Roundtable was a tremendous wakeup call in helping us know what we don’t know. In the constantly changing world of communications and patron interaction, the Audience Building Roundtable quickly brought us up to speed on what’s working and what isn’t, and all the tools that are so readily available for us to grab and get back in the game. It’s simply been the
best investment of staff time offsite that we’ve experienced in many years.”
